A few weeks ago I was thinking about getting a haircut and wanting to do something different with my hair for the summer time and my upcoming trip. The very next day I received a DM on Instagram from an account that I had been following for a year…

The account is called “vibewithlove” and is run by a beautiful girl named Julia. Julia does hair, makeup, eyebrows, microblading, and more. I started following Julia’s account last summer when I was looking for a makeup artist for my cousin’s wedding. I stumbled across Julia’s account and although she was already booked up for the wedding I decided to follow her anyways…

I followed her because I loved her Instagram stories about the law of attraction, manifesting, and spirituality. Her page is great and I definitely recommend checking her out!

So the day after I was thinking of getting a haircut I woke up to her message about offering me an “intentional” haircut. I had never heard of an “intentional” haircut before but I asked her for more information…

So what is an “intentional” haircut? (according to @vibewithlove)

Well, It’s just like having a regular haircut, except you add a little spirituality to it. So first, you should understand that intentions are the thoughts you create about something, and also the commitment you have in carrying out an action in the future.

An “intentional” haircut re-wires your energetic field and the emotional vibration you send out (the energy you give off). Refreshing your ends (energetic antennas), releasing old and stagnant energy that doesn’t serve you anymore, and refreshing the energy you mindfully choose to attract and send out.

My experience getting an “intentional” haircut:

While Julia was cutting & colouring my hair she was asking me questions to think about such as what do I want to attract in my life, what are my biggest goals right now, what do I want to let go of, and so on. I felt like I was meditating while I was getting my hair cut! And as someone who meditates every morning, this experience was truly surreal to me…

Typically when I get an “ordinary” haircut, I don’t give it much thought. I treat it as a normal errand that has to be done. My experience getting an “intentional” haircut was very different. During the whole process of cutting my hair, I was thinking… not of what I’m going to eat for dinner… but thinking about my life.

I was thinking about what was causing me to feel anxious lately, how my body felt, what I wanted to attract in my life, and what memories I wanted to let go of.

Instead of checking an errand off of my to-do list I instead had a spiritual experience, all while getting my haircut! When Julia cut my hair I felt a weight being lifted off of my shoulders and I felt refreshed when I looked in the mirror after.

I loved that such a normal errand could be turned into such a magical experience so I thank Julia for introducing me to “intentional” haircuts! Going forward, I will try to put intention into everything I do.

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of visiting the STC Flower MRKT Pop-Up Event which is located in the Scarborough Town Centre mall and is focused on mothers day! The market is open from May 4-13 and it was absolutely beautiful!

The open-concept market featured tons of local artisans, floral-focused designers, and artists. There were so many great mothers day gift ideas and I wanted them all! (for my mom and for me).

How To Be Grateful & Happier

This is the notebook that I created to remind myself to always see the glass (or wine glass) as half full. For sale on Amazon & Etsy.

I honestly think that the key to happiness is gratitude. Being grateful for all that you have and living in the present moment. If I’m ever feeling down or anxious I like to focus on what I am grateful for at that very moment.

For a few years now I have been waking up and naming or writing down at least 5 things that I am grateful for. This could range from my good night’s sleep to the morning coffee that I am about to enjoy. Every night before I go to bed I try to also think of things that I am grateful for that happened in my day. The productive day I had, seeing my friends, the delicious dinner I ate, and so on.

This has truly changed my life.

I changed my focus from looking at what I “lack” to what I have and when you do this daily you really realize how much you have to be thankful for. Instead of being envious of other peoples lives, take a look at yours! Yes, you might not have your dream job, home, body but what do you have?

Things to be grateful for:

  • That you are able to see, taste, smell, walk, hear, read, and write
  • Your job & make money
  • That you have family, friends, or significant others
  • Your home, clothing, and fresh drinking water
  • That you are constantly learning & growing everyday
  • Listening to music you love
  • That you are striving for your goals and dreams
  • The upcoming trip you are going on
  • Your phone, computer, tv, and the internet
  • The food and drinks that you had today or will be having later
  • Coffee, Wine, Pizza
  • The opportunity to make a change in your life
  • Your pets
  • The power of meditation & yoga
  • Reading a good book
  • That tomorrow is a fresh start
  • Owning a car
  • The beauty of nature
  • Your good health & your families
  • The country you live in
  • Taking a hot shower
  • Fresh bed sheets
  • To be alive!!!

These are just a couple of things that you can be grateful for every day. Make it your goal to start focusing on at least 5 things that you are grateful for every day and see how it changes your happiness levels.

I am grateful that you are reading this post. Have a beautiful day!

xoxo
